The journey continues. We feel nostalgia, some sadness, but also excitement to announce that at the end of October 2023, we bid farewell to our beloved Sumahan on the Water. It has been hard work yet a source of great joy to create over the years not just a hotel but an experience of hospitality and effortless luxury right on the Bosphorus in the very heartbeat of the eternal city of Istanbul. It is with great pleasure that we are also able to announce that we are passing on this legacy to VAKKO, a great company with a deep tradition of excellence, who is now taking over the reins.

From the very start, our mission at Sumahan was to provide all our guests with personalized service and a refined sense of elegance that was both intimate and luxurious. From the moment you stepped through our doors, we worked to create a haven of luxury where every need was met with care and attention, leading to our becoming a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. Our location, our family, and the friends we employed have led to the creation of a Bosphorus-side ambiance, giving insight into the magnificence of this city that exists nowhere else.

Passing on the torch to VAKKO, we are confident of their ability to develop this vision and carry it forward. VAKKO has a wealth of experience, a commitment to exceptional hospitality, and best of all, a deep appreciation of the qualities which make Sumahan on the Water unique.

To all our cherished guests, we thank you for your decision to stay with us. Ours has been a relationship of trust and affection. We are grateful that you have come to regard Sumahan on the Water as your home, and that so many of you have chosen to revisit us time and time again. It has been a privilege to be your hosts, a pleasure to indulge you, and to share that special tranquility our setting affords. It has been an honor to be part of your lasting memories of Istanbul.

We embark on the next chapter in our lives, both grateful and confident that the new management will continue to uphold the standards of luxury and sophistication that you have come to expect. Sumahan on the Water has the brightest of futures and your time in Istanbul will continue to be filled with enchantment and delight.

We too take with us memories of friendships and of our pleasure in sharing the timeless beauty and rich cultural heritage of Istanbul. This city is magical, and Sumahan on the Water is at the heart of it all. We embrace the future with open arms, knowing that this legacy will live on.

The newly renovated Vakko Hotel Sumahan Bosphorus opened in the autumn of 2024. With profound gratitude and a bittersweet touch of regret, we bid you farewell. We know the possibilities are endless. Our journey continues.
